Greeting of the Minister of Culture and Sports

Dear Guests,

This year – as in past years – the Train Theater produces the International Festival of Puppet Theater Jerusalem, one of the leading and important events in the field of puppetry, thus allowing the audience an exposure to the wide and enriching variety of Puppet Theater shows from Israel and the world.

Since its inception, the festival brought enjoyment and cultural inspiration to thousands of children and adults alike that watched, laughed, cried and identified. Through the year, the festival had succeeded to advance the medium of Puppet Theater in Israel by creating an inspiring dialogue and cultural bridge between the local artists and their colleagues from abroad.

The exit from the theater venues to the picturesque Nachlaot alleys serves as an important cultural message for the local community, by allowing the active participation in the theatrical creation and contributes a fresh and a new point of view, to the great enjoyment of the audience.

I greet the Train Theater and Director General and Artistic Director, Dalia Yaffe Maayan, for this prestigious tradition, which is a shining pearl in the chain of Israeli summer festivals, and wish the festival-goers a great enjoyment from the variety of events in the capital Jerusalem.
